 Darya Films is a film & TV production company based in Lisbon, Portugal, founded by Portuguese-Greek writer/director/producer Paolo Marinou-Blanco and producer Filipa Vala. It specializes in developing and producing film and TV projects that approach social and political issues through original perspectives and bridge different cultures, ranging from Europe to Latin America and the US. Some of its current projects include: “Dreaming of Lions”, a surreal & dark romantic comedy about euthanasia, currently in pre-production, winner of a production grant from ICA (Portuguese Film Institute) and selected for the Torino Film Lab (Comedy Lab) and the Mediterranean Film Institute’s Script 2 Film advanced development workshop; The Optimist”, a dark comedy about the housing crisis and social inequality in Portugal, selected for  the Jerusalem International Film Lab, co-produced by Primo Films (Brazil); “The Last Harem”, selected for Rotterdam Festival’s Cinemart production forum, and co-produced with Neon Films, France (“The Prophet”), and “Empty Hands”, funded by ICA (Portuguese Film Institute), in co-production with Kinora Films (Portugal). 

 

Darya Films also provides script consultancy services to film and television projects in both Europe and the US.
